Empoli Football Club has announced that Alessio Dionisi is no longer a member of the team. The Amiatino coach, who was dismissed nine games before the end of the recently concluded season, has in fact mutually terminated his contract with the blue club. Dionisi had returned to Empoli during the past season, replacing Guido Pagliuca after the seventh game of the season. His second experience at Empoli never reached the levels of the one that, in 2021, had brought Empoli back to Serie A. As the team moved forward, they lost confidence and the situation became increasingly complicated until the defeat to Catanzaro, which led the company to decide to change the technical guide again, entrusting the bench to Fabio Caserta. So, Dionisi's professional future will not be far from football, as he is destined to continue his career in England, where he is expected to soon formalize his agreement with Watford, a club in the Championship, the English Serie B. The contract termination represents an economically significant aspect for Empoli, as the club will free itself from one of the salaries it would have had to continue to support until June 2027. The blue club will now have to look for a new coach for the next season. But, for now, Dionisi's farewell is a closed chapter. His experience at Empoli has ended and the club must look ahead. Watford, Dionisi's new club, is owned by the Pozzo family, the same one that controls Udinese. The Italian connection is therefore present in this transfer as well. Empoli, meanwhile, will have to work to find a new coach who can bring the team to the playoffs in the next season.
